Welcome to the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo Library
The Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo (NVIC) was founded in Cairo in 1971.
The library of the NVIC is an academic reference library. The goal of the library is to support academic research in general and the teaching programs of the NVIC in the fields of Arabic studies and Egyptology. The collection consists of publications in Arabic and European languages. The library specializes in the following subjects: Arabic and Islamic studies (with special focus on Egypt in all its aspects), Egyptology/Archaeology (including the legacy of Professor Emery), Coptic studies, Papyrology and Graeco-Roman Egypt. The library contains a considerable collection of periodicals as well as Egyptian weekly and monthly newspapers and magazines.
