A joint mission of the Universities of Münster (2003 and 2004), Mainz (2004 up to present) and Sohag (2003 up to present). Fieldwork and studies of former research work enabled the author to reconstruct for the first time the history of the ancient necropolis, and thereby of the ancient town and its different fortunes as a city of culture, as a border town, and as a wounded city.
